Nationalise education, Demand teachers

Teachers across the nation celebrated the International Teachers' Day today calling for nationalisation of education. On the occasion, various programs were held, in which teachers also called for an end to disparity in pay and other benefits, between teachers in public and private institutions. In a meeting with Swadhinata Shikkhak Parishad, the Capital's chief of staff the Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury announced that work are in progress to incorporate non-government teachers into the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) scheme starting this month. The government plans to bring in all schools and teachers that are not government-run to this scheme the scheme, he said.
